This project transforms the Ambassador Hall of Administration in Pasadena into a lab for IBM in which the entire building operates as an environmental purification device. Using the qualities of the existing buildings envelope, a respiratory frame grown and retracts, providing natural light and ventilation as well as intricate spacial forms. Over time, the expanded envelope will be transformed through seasons. While, the sunlight will transform the space when penetrating the honeycomb forms. This new space of research and experience suggests the search for an architecture that improves the environmental conditionsof its surroundings might be compatible with an exploration of forms and tectonics.
